Static testing of seismic improvement structures during construction

The current building is the result of a complex and articulated succession of constructions, extensions and modifications that took place between 1991 and 2011.

This process has generated a building with an irregular shape both in plan and height, made up of independent and adjacent structural blocks, separated from each other by joints made in different eras; even the construction technologies of the structures and the materials are different depending on the area.

The building is made up of 13 adjacent buildings.

The project includes the seismic improvement of the entire complex with metal carpentry and FRP reinforcements of the vertical structural elements as well as the connection of the prefabricated elements with metal carpentry elements and the closure of some structural joints with Shock transmitter units (STU) type elements.

Location : Carugate (MB), Italy

Client : IKEA Italia Retail Srl

Structural Works Design: SCE Project

Activities carried out: Static testing during construction and final seismic improvement
